Harvest season is just around the corner, and here at Gilbert Orchards, we’re getting ready for one of our biggest years yet. We have over 500 openings for experienced farmworkers to join us in Mattawa, Washington. If you love working outdoors and have a real rhythm for orchard work, we’d love to have you on board.
What’s the work like?
You’ll be working across our beautiful orchards, helping us grow and harvest apples, cherries, grapes, and pears. It’s busy, physical work, but you’ll be part of a huge, supportive team.
On any given day, you’ll be:
- Harvesting: Picking fruit from the ground, on motorized platforms, or using ladders.
- Orchard Upkeep: Handling the pruning, thinning, and training that keeps our trees and vines healthy.
- Staying Active: You’ll be moving around a lot, often carrying 10–12 ft. orchard ladders.
- Keeping it Safe: We’re big on safety. Whether you’re sharpening tools or working around equipment, we look out for one another.
The Schedule: Usually, we start early at 7:00 A.M. and wrap up around 1:30 P.M., so you have your afternoons free.
What you need to bring to the team
Since this is a fast-paced environment, we’re looking for people who already know their way around an orchard:
- The Basics: You need at least 2 months of experience (that we can verify) in pruning, thinning, and harvesting tree fruit using a 3-point ladder.
- The Strength: You should be comfortable handling heavy ladders and staying on your feet for your full shift.
- The Attitude: We need people who are reliable, safety-conscious, and ready to work as part of a crew.
